Den 6 oktober 2014 släpptes Dalaplans andra fullängdsalbum ”Plikt och elände”. Albumet ges ut på skivbolaget Gaphals som 2013 släppte bandets självbetitlade och uppmärksammade debutalbum. Soundet på den nya plattan är mörkare än på debuten och det förklarar sångaren och låtskrivaren Niklas Svensson så här:
– Förra skivan handlade om att vilja slå sig fri och fly från tristess och rutiner. ",Plikt och elände", föddes ur den hopplöshet man känner när man inser att den nyvunna friheten inte gjorde en lyckligare.
